　　普林斯顿大学招生办主任Janet Lavin Rapelye说：『我们希望在essay里看到的是我们的申请人掌控英语，而不是简单地使用英语，不管英语是否是他/她的第一语言，从他/她的文章中我们想要看到他/她一定的英语语言的知识积累，更重要的是他/她对于这些知识的辩证性见解，因此我们建议我们的申请人辩证性的、多样性的阅读。』

 

 

　　英文阅读很重要，有助于新SAT考高分，有助于写申请文书，有助于上美国大学后写论文。

　　以新SAT为例，新SAT阅读的考试时间为65分钟，共有52道选择题，需要阅读4篇独立文章和1篇双对比文章。考生若希望考出满意的分数，必须扎扎实实的阅读至少10本以上的SAT考试官方罗列的小说，以增加对美国社会和文化的深入理解。

　　阅读虽好，读进去却不易，对每一个申请国外大学的童靴来讲是一种挑战。下面留美网整理了CB推荐的各种阅读材料，供现在正值暑假的你充电(虽然你的暑假可能也在忙着学习)。

　　新SAT阅读材料推荐：

　　童靴们在平时也要养成阅读的好习惯，阅读范围最好能包含各类阅读体裁，涉猎文学、地理、天文、历史、经济、社会等多个领域，New York Times、Washington Post、经济学人等杂志和报刊都是不错的选择。在阅读过程中，除了关注文学作品本身内容外，还要注重把握作者传递的个人情感、背景知识和相关信息。
